Storage

Proper food storage is key to ensuring that your cake stays fresh for as long as possible. Heat, humidity/moisture and light are all enemies of keeping your cake fresh and looking it's best.

Your uncut cake should be stored in its cake box or an air-tight container away from direct sunlight/flourescent lighting or any heat source for 3-5 days at room temperature if it does not contain perishable fillings (cakes with perishable fillings will require refrigeration).

Once cut, it is highly unlikely that you will have any of your delicious Cakesville cake left - however if you do, it is best to cover the exposed cut side with clingfilm to prevent exposure to air. Then store the cake at room temperature in its cake box or an air-tight container for up to 3 days. To enjoy at its best, eat as soon as possible after cutting.

For long term storage, the cake should be stored in the freezer in an air-tight freezer safe container. Refrigeration will dry out your cake whilst freezing will seal in the moisture.

Use of fresh flowers

It is recommended that fresh flowers are provided by your florist. They will be able to advise on which flowers are suitable for use on an edible medium. The flowers must be free from pesticides, insects, dirt or other contaminants.

Use of non-edible materials

Non-edible decorative pieces (eg ribbons, jewellery, candles etc) may be used in the cake design as required by the client/customer. It is important that these are removed from the cake before serving. It is the clients/customers responsibility to ensure that this information is communicated to whomever will be cutting/serving the cake if it is not the client/customer. Cakesville will accept no liability for any harm (physical or otherwise) resulting from the ingestion of any non-edible materials.
